Had a scary experience the other day. I developed a crushing headache. It was so bad it had me crying. I became increasingly disoriented as the night went on. I was treated at the ER but was discharged while I was still very disoriented. The headache was just a little better, but eventually got significantly better. I was still loopy the next day.

It is unnerving to think that they would discharge me in that state. I spent what seemed like hours, confused and crying in the lobby. Even though the headache is gone, I feel vulnerable and sad.

Did they do a scan of your head and body? How about blood work? IMO they should do a through job of finding the source of your headache.
DO YOU HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE?
It appears to me that people without health insurance don't get proper treatment. If you can't pay they tend to give patients a Tylenol and send them home. This is why we need to elect Bernie Sanders President and have Medicare for all.

They did a CT scan along with blood work, including drug and alcohol screening. I had other recent abdominal scans. They were fairly thorough. My blood pressure was high when I was at home and even higher by the time I got to the ER but I don't know for sure if it was the cause.

Yes, I have health insurance.

Are the days gone by when a doctor put you in her/his Hospital for a day or more for all the tests, rest and pain relief ???

Yes, I think those days are gone.

@itsmedammit that is so sad.... giving birth is not always a planned 2 days on a due date.....emergency rooms need to decide of mom&fetus can wait the few minutes riding on a birney to the obstetrics ward....why you were not admitted for observation or stroke EVALUATION seems wrong to me .....F.A.S.T. is preached everywhere but the e.r. ???? Skull stays are not well read by et staff and CT scans show more details....I am so sorry they let you disorient and suffee.....of I was your advocate and one Hospital fucked us over I would take you to another e.r.

@Larry68Feminist I think they did a reasonable evaluation. Don't need to be admitted to do a ct. No advocate was with me, making it shameful that they discharged me.

I'm not really a fan of staying in the hospital for workups.

A similar thing happened to me once; then was gone after a couple of days never to return.

I hope for it to never happen again. Was there a cause identified?

@itsmedammit no, sorry

@EdEarl
Thanks anyway, at least it is good to know that it could be a one time thing.
