I've just made a comment in a post to say that jelly-fish stings are alkaline. This means that they can be neutralised by soaking the affected skin in a weak acid.
Unfortunately, things like vinegar are not easily available when you are on a beach, but there is one weak acid that is nearly always to hand.
That's right. This is a chance to piss on people and get away with it!
it works! I have even peed on my wife and she thanked me! She has also peed on people. This remedy also works on alkaline insect stings, such as those from wasps. So if there's an ex niggling you, here's a "golden" chance to piss on them and be thanked for it!!
(Note: Bee stings are acidic.)

A handsome lifeguard used ammonia on me. I don't know whether ot was the ammonia or his gentle massage on my thigh but whatever it was, i felt much better.

Probably the latter, you sensual creature!! 🤣😂

But don't try it on bee stings, they are acid, so you need an alkaline for them. Bicarb is recommended. But the truth is, not much really works for bee stings, in part because they are one of the most complex chemical weapons know, including over fifty different active components. Some of which attack the heart, some the nervous system, some cause local cell death, some are pycho-active agents, while some help spread the others and some have unknown actions.

I've already mentioned that bee stings are acidic. The best palliative for them is an old fashioned substance called "washing blue", which contains soda, but nothing other than removing the actual sting, is really effective.
If you can stand the pain, after a bee has stung you do not react and you may see the bee walk round retracting its sting. This is because when a bee leaves its sting behind the bee dies. African bees, the ones I grew up with, are more aggressive and have deadly stings.

people should be happy. most take the piss anyway without being stung and they're full of shit.

I read the reverse is true. That urine does nothing for jellyfish stings.

don't tell them that lol

From my personal experience during many years swimming on the East African coast, the urine does alleviate the pain. (Nothing like having your girlfriend lower her bikini out in the open air to take your mind off the sting, anyway!)
Once one is off the beach the treatment should continue with strong vinegar.
*(Battery acid is not recommended, but well diluted and then thoroughly washed off after 3 minutes it functions also.)**
