Does anyone here understand Hegel? Even Schopenhauer thought he was too much!

I would never say I understand Hegel, but I studied Hegelian philosophy as part of my political philosophy at University, and I consider Hegelian Dialectics to have been a major influence on my thinking in life, and of course the link to Marxian class analysis. While I'm not a Marxist, he got a lot right and is still very relevant, philosophically, to today.

Quite agree about Marx. And then built on by Weber we have a pretty clear understanding of how globalisation and neoliberalism is a natural outcome. I guess there is a bit of Hegel's dialectic there, thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis

@Geoffrey51 Yeah all that fancy stuff you both said. Actually, I have just enough background to know who they are! So much to study so little time.

I get annoyed reading the German philosophers, but more than Friedrich Hegel. Just pay no attention to him . he was useless, did not accomplish anything of use to his fellow humans or the progress of society as a whole.

That’s what I thought but just put it down to me not getting it. Thanks for the input, πŸ˜‰
