Nice to get some stats. But the problems are twofold, firstly that confirmed cases are only a tiny proportion of the whole, and that proportion may vary according to the ways in which different countries test, record and report, and secondly that not all countries may be honest in what they publish. It is thought by some for example, that Russia may be underreporting to prevent panic buying in the shops.
Excellent article here Coronavirus Showed That America Wasn't Up to the Task - The Atlantic
NYC is going to get worse before it gets better.. Last week, we had 22 cases, this week, over 300..
These figures are misleading because different countries are at differing stages of this pandemic. China is obviously the highest because the virus seems have originated there, so they’ve had it the longest. Btw..the WHO have published a report about the outbreak and are highly praising of the way China has handled this outbreak.
@MissKathleen I know that..and in the beginning they did try to keep it under wraps, but very soon they realised that they needed to change, and they did. They are a naturally secretive and authoritarian regime, bit it was how they handled it from after they admitted there was a problem, that the WHO examined and reported on their procedures and actions. The doctor who died was directly contributory to them realising that they needed to be more open and cooperative with other countries. It was very sad he died, and it’s thought that because he was an eye specialist he was exposed to much higher levels of the virus than would be the norm before anyone knew that the were incubating the virus, that is why he died. He was definitely a hero.
Governments especially dictatorial ones, never release the true numbers!,,
China and Iran are purely under reported, watch the BBC, German, and Indian TV news it is apparently obvious enough that the numbers are schemed down wards!!!
