Either way if we don't learn and start taking seriously not only the true causes of these serious environmental issues (it is an issue of our life support system) we will head down this road again. As far as a rebounding economy goes I see that as a negative. It means we still place money ahead of life. Many businesses have been seriously wounded, as they should be. Even if this one issue is solved there are still many, many other serious issues and they will only get worse unless we start to prioritize.
"For most people it’s like the common cold.” Not sure this is true at all, or ignores that fact that for a significant minority, hospitalization is required. Hoping for the best, but not looking good at this point. This seems to be just another "well, a miracle might happen" article.
