How do people here deal with being forced to stay ion a country that they have lost most loyalty to as it marches headlong into a new dark age of ignorance, hate, superstition and open tyranny? I can't say I'm a patriot any more, america is juist becoming something that fills me with hate and fear. I wins I was rich enough to emigrate to a civilized sane nation in western europe and give speeches on what happened to america and how they eed to avoid it. I don't have the resources to move to a decent country that isn't rishing into a new dark age.
Thinking of the good times… like Obama’s election night, and again! How my State’s legislature turned to the party of progress, and progress began! In a way, understanding how it happened, and that I’ve seen it before: Nixon, Reagan, bush jr, and this…
I think back to JFK, some LBJ.. Jimmy Carter (my favorite prez), William Jefferson Clinton (likely the best president of my life), and Barack Obama, the second best.. But amid the good ones, I’ve also witnessed the nation’s two worst presidents: bush jr, and this..
As I’ve aged, worked smart, done well, I can actually ride it out fairly comfortably. Actually, my adult children can too. In fact, economically, we’ve likey done better under the ugly R’s. Environmentally, socially, morally - definitely not. I know some wealthy dudes who fund Democrats - they - give me hope.
Learned a decade ago - the world doesn't want ‘Americans!’ Sure, they’ll take our money ..but we’re no longer the respected, enlightened leaders of humanity we once appeared. The bad guys won. And with each win, they compound their methods of winning. And though I know some good wealth, the bad wealth is far more abundant
Anymore, I think - fuck it - I’m not leaving. I’ll continue to prove my worth and value to my mostly redneck community, educate when possible, and lead by example. As angry as the wrong-wingers appear, it’s actually fear. If the anger of the progressives were focused on those it should be, the scared ones (cuz they know the shit they’ve pulled), we might begin to turn things around... But if the left remains lazy, back-stabbing their own - no chance. If so, they’ll lose far more than me ~
