Is Christianity worse than nihilism?
I saw some halohead claiming that atheism lead to nihilism. Well, OK, I can't really say this isn't true in some form abd in some cases.
But, he went on how bad nihilism was, abd I had to wonder if Christianity is worse that nihilism.
Nihilism, meaningless, futility, pointlessness. OK, a but if a downer I admit.
But in Christianity and Islam you exist solely to either be a mindless little drone praising ghawd and existibg to serve abd obey him like a goddam Borg drone, or you are tortured for allll eeeeternityyyyy for not doing it.
Which is worse?
I think Christianity and Atheism are both nihilistic, but more obviously atheism.
I dislike both, more so Christianity, because it disguises it's nihilism behind an Armaggedon-ish veil: THIS world will be destroyed, and from the ashes will be born a new world. Thanks a lot.
Atheism is more directly and starkly nihilistic. It's all meaningless and adds up to nothing, period.
Pick your poison, I guess.
Agnosticism, on the other hand, leaves open the possibility there MAY be a point to it all. WHAT that might be is, of course, unknown.
'swhy I'm agnostic, brah.
@Techpriest Of course.
For me, agnosticism reflects my reality. I don’t call myself a nihilist; I’m a realist. Life is chaos. I try to be optimistic, but deep down, I know that most people sink to the lowest levels rather than rising above.
My realism gives me peace: this life is what I have. I’m responsible for it, and I accept the consequences of my actions/inactions. Nobody ‘owes’ me, and I don’t owe them.
Your "realism" isn't very cheerful, is it? In fact it's almost downright nihilistic!
