So many people on here seem to want a new religion to believe in. My question is why?

Why do you need something to believe in?

They want or feel that they need to be part of a group and religion can be world wide so feel safe with like minded people around them where ever they are.

I think it's something about the way our brains are wired. It's the same principle behind the question "if you don't believe in God,what keeps you from commiting horrible acts?" People are trained from a young age to look to "higher authorities" for answers. Teachers, parents, mentors. I think this gets translated to a conscious or unconscious expectation of an "ultimate authority figure" as we become adults.
