Whenever we pass a popular Christian holiday like Easter, I find myself reading up on the pagan roots. Even though I am still not drawn to gods and goddesses like Ishtar in any spiritual way, I find the history fascinating. Anyone else feel this way?

Originally, I dreaded educating my son about religion and spirituality, but it has turned out to be one of our most interesting go-to conversations. He has an interesting take on why people seem to need it. And when it comes up in conversation, he says that god is just how people interpret the energy of the universe. I feel like he has a better grasp on religion at 11 than most adults. ?

Actually, I take a break from the study of religious history to visit this site.

I minored in religion in undergrad and loved it. Even though I was already a non-believer by that point, I loved learning about all the different ways people coped with their world.

@chyckweed I study religious history not to understand what people believe, bit why we believe it.

Oh, definitely. I don't believe in goddesses (nor gods), but Ishtar, Isis, Kali, Athene, Artemis, Aphrodite, Eostre, Lakshmi, Hecate, Ishtar, Freja and all the rest are all fascinating characters.

Well history is fascinating, period. Almost any learning experience usually add value to something..... My two cents. Cheers !!

That's true. I always joke that I'll watch a 60 minute PBS special on almost anything.

I can see that... I like PBS !!! Does that make us nerds? Oh well, life is too short. Thanks for your reply, I did smile actually... That's a good thing !!
