I have discovered the reason that I was unable to reach some forums. I had them marked as "Show less of these". I don't know if that's a feature or a bug.

It's a feature. I use it to get less political stuff in my feed. There is also a 'show more of these' feature. I use it to get more science stuff in my feed. 😉
