I attempt to be stoic about most things. In fact I have paid as little attention as possible to this " pandemic" that I possibly can, yet every time I boot up the computer, turn on the car, and even more rarely turn on the TV, I hear about this more about this disease.

I'm not a professional and I can't tell you what is "really" going on. However, I would bet if we would have set the same protocols in place that we did when SARS became known to the world, the same thing would have happened. Even so, I don't think it is hard to see that it is human intervention that has f*** things up the most from the ground up.

Being Stoic means not letting things outside your control bother you. This pandemic is very much in your personal control and if you don't protect yourself and those near you the consequences can be dire. Death is not the only risk -- [rawstory.com] .
Use PPEs and practice social distancing. It might sound Alpha(tm) to ignore the virus but it's not a good idea. Here is a graph that shows what happened with the flu in Denver in 1918 when they stopped restrictions too soon:

Trump's failure to recognise the critical importance of managing Covid-19 is plain for the whole world to see. He is blind to his own folly.

Ebola, SARS & etc. arose, but were contained. The dismantling of our response capabilities by this "administration" is what allowed this thing to run amok. Do you not remember the USA sending large teams of responders & scientists, and shiploads of supplies, to striken areas in past years? Maybe you should be paying a bit more attention......
