That sounds positive indeed🙂 Hope the nurse is still there, and the work goes smoothly. You’re right; it’s extremely good to have someone to take over and know that the person will manage. I had the same experience when we had to use an air medical ambulance. The critical care nurse escorting the flight was so professional and nice that I remembered her very well. Hope she’s safe and sound now, and her job brings her joy. Such people make me still believe in humanity and that we still man manage.

I am sorry , but this is stupid .
I don’t know what type of nursing this girl does , I assume nothing critical or trauma , but nurses have 101 options when it comes to employment , this is not even laughable , that’s sad she complains .
On these days , when minimum wage folks and folks who depend on tips , and small business folks are in despair , we , the nurses , we have nothing to complain . Besides ppe , I can assure anyone , when a nurse gets terminated for any reason by any employer , there are two more jobs for her b4 the ink dries on the seperation paperwork 😂
Nursing agencies are begging daily w emails for 14 weeks contracts , as near as 50 miles of residency ( local contract ), or another stare ( traveling contracts ). An average contract pays 3k a week for 3 12 hr shifts , 75 dollar a day for food , your housing , even dog care . And recruiters offer sign up bonus as well , New York is a 10k right now just to show up .
I am sorry . I feel sorry for all my grocery store workers who are into this for nothing , and the waitress and waiters who are sitting home w 600 bucks a month .
Elective surgeries are back as well in most states , so her shity employer will need nurses again 😂
In my hospital and all it’s branches we haven’t laid off anyone than travelers and contracts . And they weren’t crying either . Their agency sends them to the next one . Just a state south 😂
Not qualified nurses to work w critical care and cardiac care issues are been used to task at oncology and mother / baby units , and no overtime allowed for them , but at least they get their 40 hrs a week .

The nurse on this video should be damn thankful that she did not had to see more than 9 pts of covid “, and then get her self a great contract somewhere else . Worst case , if she is not on demand / no critical care , she can always get a well paid job at rehab or nursing homes in her area . I can assure anyone , no shortage of nursing employment options , only shortage of nurses everywhere .

We have r problems and we are in danger daily for what we do at work . Sure .
But we ain’t “ heroes “, and we knew that when we were becoming providers . We ask for ppe , not medals . I have took care of plenty of TB b4 , meningitis , SARS , measles , name it . That’s our job . Covid is no diffent when it comes to our fears and anxiety . We are anxious to get short on ppe , not on money .
Nurses are well paid and we know it . If u are a nurse , especially w some experiances and u are not making money , then I am sorry , u don’t know what u doing .
The one thing that I am embarresed most in my career is exactly how much money we are making $$$$ , and how easy is to have employment choices . In short , I don’t understand what her problem is , or y she can’t fix it .
Feel sorry for the ones who are in fields that unemployment is going to be their friend for awhile 🙁

You have made a very good response—thanks!

I just thought it ironic that her hospital is empty during this supposedly horrible pandemic. I wonder if that’s the case in many places.

@WilliamFleming yes . Cencus low for many reasons .
No elective surgeries . Only trauma .
No pts coming to ER , fear of exposure .
No kids accidents , yet an increase in domestic violence at least in my area .
Less gun shots trauma , less drunk drivers trauma .
My hospital and it’s branches loss estimated 8-10 million a month Bcz of above . Cry me a river , a tissue box goes for 27 dollars , that’s what a pt pays for a box of tissues 🙁
Their approach was to absorb then non critical care nurses ( step down , med / surg) to other units w more traffic .
ER nurses are helping w infusion centers and dialysis , and PACU and OR nurses are tasking at oncology and mother baby. Nobody allow to do overtime , and send 30 traveling nurses back to their home .
3 cardiac units converted to covid units , all busy . Previously heart cath nurses and general surgery nurses are helping us out and making their hrs / money there .
Overall , hospitals are bitching everywhere , but in reality , the smart ones are fighting to actually retain their nurses .
Nurses have 0 reason to complain right now or ever about money . Ppe concerns ? Yes . Money ? No . Always ways to earn money in nursing .

@WilliamFleming in Portland they did close down a large group of clinics with 820 layoff, they were closed due to the "no non emergency procedures" I checked with my niece who is a nurse at a hospital in Portland and they are all still needing nurses.
