I have surely screwed up on the relationship front. I think a lot of what is good is growing together, and creating a history that two share. Now at 60 years into the game and flying solo once again I feel the desire to share my life with someone, but I wonder if I missed out on the best part of what relationships should be.
I don't think it's ever too late. Knowing where you can do better in a relationship is maybe half the struggle to success. Self examination as well as loving yourself go a long way. There are no garantees tho. I really thought my last relationship would last but he lapsed back into drinking and he choose to move out. I wasn't even asking for completely stopping, just be with it the way he was 10 years earlier when we got together. I've been out of a relationship for 10 years. I still have hope but in the mean time I enjoy life and all the great people I encounter.
Good Luck and enjoy the journey.
I feel that way sometimes. My daughter married her high school sweetheart. They've been together more than 20 years now, married for the last 12. They bicker fairly often and sometimes fight like cats and dogs, but they are BEST friends...and Im sometimes envious. I'd like to find love again but Im not sure I want to marry again -- I don't think so. But I won't have that " we raised kids, went through hell but grew old together" thing....
My experience (2cents) says that growing together isn’t necessarily true. If you have a sibling that you love, it doesn’t matter if you like or do the same things. What matters is you love each other. So add some intimacy and you have marriage.
What should a relationship be? Just two people who like being with each other. That simple. No bullshit, no fake flash. Be like Popeye -y'are what y'are. I'm 65, been married for 3 whole years to my current wife. Best years of my life. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! It ain't over until you say it's over. But hurry -you've only got 20-25 years before the ladies will be able to out scooter you. And before you forget why you're chasing them.
Ha ha! Thanks for the coaching.
I focus on myself love within myself. Nurture yourself first.
