I too live in a bible rural area. They always tell me, " no matter you are an atheist , god still loves you" and I say of course he does, what is not to love. They try to catch me all the time because I have earned their respect. I tell them how I believe in one god who practices unconditional love , who loves all he created. that usually gets them going when they realize their god is shit

I’ve learned to get over most of it, but getting proselytized to while dealing with loved ones in the hospital was the closest I ever came to snapping at someone about it.
