The united states government needs jesus. The government commits genocide against native Americans, which isnt even an accurate description of them. The same government that enslaved people of color, stole the gold via executive order 6102, taxes people without consent, the list of grievances probably longer than the list of grievances in the declaration of independence against Britain, this very same government claims moral authority and enforces law. As jesus would say, remove the beam from your own eye before pointing out the speck in your brother's eye. Perhaps the government shoukd take his advice. This post is appropriate on the 4th of july. Take the time to read the declaration of independence, you will see the same grievances they listed against Britain to be the same crimes the us government commits against its own people today.....

I think you are on the wrong site. This tends not to be a Jesus friendly site. You are generally correct about the grievances against the government, but why ruin your argument by invoking jesus. Rational thought, logic, ethics, and moral thinking would go much further.

About common sense, how can a person who commit genocide be the same person making, interpreting and enforcing the laws ? Are we going to to the psychopath in prison asking for moral guidance, then why do we look at the government as moral authority?

@Rich177 we can only hope

@t1nick hope is for the hopeless

@Rich177 you invoke jesus, then deny hope. Oxymoronic at best. The purpose of society is moral guidance evolutionarily. That is part of the reason that complex social interaction (society) evolved back on the Savannah of Africa. It is one of the me organisms that maintains evolutionary "fitness".

@t1nick if you're talking about a morally depraved government that enforces it's own morally depraved imagination on the people, and hoping that this government will become good, it's never going to happen.

@Rich177

I'm talking about an evolutionary imperative for humans to form societies. Governments arise out of societies.
