I have an evening to myself. I'm going to clean up a bit, make some music, and probably crack open that bottle of red wine I've been hanging onto... And hopefully, I'll take a hot Epsom salt bath before bed. What are some little things you do to spoil yourself?

Epsom salt? Wtf

It's good for sore muscles. I just pour a couple of cups in when I start the water running.

There's a place here in town called Trotters, grills a perfect steak. Hand cut fries and a salad with blue cheese dressing. Then I'll come home, pour a Manhattan and open a book. I'll only get up if the dog needs to go out. A nice meal and some peace and quiet.

Interesting. I haven’t thought of my actions in those terms before but I guess I can honestly say that most of what I do comes under the category of spoiling myself. That may not be a very satisfying answer but I focus on creativity and self-care; healthy mind, body, and spirit. That wasn’t always the case. It only took me 50 years to come to this mindset.

Same, the hot soak is one, and just lying in bed reading a good book before dozing off is my end of day reward.

GOOD beer. I am not a stickler for price, but the ones I like, a six-pack (or even a four-pack) costs as much or more than a 12 pack of "Buttwiper" or however you say that.

Time alone to stare at the sky and ponder the cosmos, while sipping said beer from a proper glass can rejuvenate my mind to endure another day.

Do you like dark, malty brews? I do, I've been drinking Claymore, a deep, rich Scotch Ale-very tasty. Oddly enough, it's brewed in Colorado.

@Condor5 Dark and malty is GOOD. I am not into the IPA trend, and lean more toward stouts, dark lagers, and porters, typically in that order, and preferably not too heavy on the hops. I love a good Scotttish Ale (Clan MacBain, so I am predisposed, of course) so I'll have to look for some Claymore and give it a try.

If I had to choose a favorite right now (it changes often), Lakewood Temptress (a milk stout) is at the top of the list. Lakewood Brewery is in Garland, TX, a suburb of Dallas, so it is local, for me. It is a bargain when you can find it for $10 for a four-pack.

@Meep70, I will look for that, thanks. Yes, your tastes are almost identical to mine in this respect. Clan Robertson, btw.

I have been enjoying dark craft beers of late. I never cared a lot for beer before, I wonder if it's because I have changed my diet to exclude a lot of grains as well as meat or just that I hadn't really had chocolate stout & similar wonderful creations before.

i love dark beer... i dream of diving into a vat of guinness in ireland. i love guinness!!

I like to go out for breakfast every so often. My morning routine generally lasts (as I am a late riser) until 1030 or 11, but occasionally I will force myself to get up and out to a decent restaurant for a lovely breakfast of Eggs Benedict, my perennial favorite. Lingering over that with a good cup of coffee is a real treat for me.

Definitely enjoy!

Yay. Play a couple of chords for me.

I hope more folks will comment on this. I'm not so good at spoiling myself. Hoping to work on it in the next few weeks and would love to get more input. BTW, your evening sounds scrumptious! Enjoy!

That sounds very soothing and selfish- in a good way.
I wind down with a trip to the gym or a walk with my dog or fishing at a local pond. Eat something good for me, turn on a good documentary or history doc or maybe a good atheist talk. ( while eating in bed 😉 )
Then drift off to a sound sleep. Alcohol optional.

I always have an evening to myself. On the weekends it is quite sad.

I seem to go in waves. No plans for months, then not a free moment for what feels like months. Balance is hard for me.

@Nottheonlyone I'm alone every weekend. It's been like that for 2 years now.

I did it for about a year, and then I suddenly found myself seeking out things to do. Comedy clubs, making music, traveling... It wasn't easy to talk myself out of the house at first, but if I can do it, I'd bet you can, too.

@Nottheonlyone I'm not mobile at night.

Bicycle?

@Nottheonlyone There is nowhere to put one in my room. I sold mine though. I walk around the town until 5 pm at night, on my days off that is.

That sounds perfect. Dim the lights, light some candles, crank up the Mozart add some Mr. Bubbles and now it’s perfect for me.

Taking a long hot bath now my joints and muscles need it after working 12 hours wiring a house.

Today I rewatched, "Constantine" and I've been reading my new book. I soon will be listening to some music to help with my boredom. I want to go to the gym, but I'm contagious with a stomach virus.

I hope you're not feeling too poorly, @Sarahroo29.

@Bierbasstard Tomorrow I'll watch, "Justice League." Both of my movies I ordered came in at once yesterday.

@Bierbasstard Yes.

@Nottheonlyone I posted about it. No one has seen it. It's hidden I guess.

@Nottheonlyone It's the stomach virus that is going around.

That sounds scrumptious..enjoy!
