Don't know why I am posting this here...it's a long-shot, but it is worth it. I have a good command over the English language (that's what I've been told over the years) and a US college-degree (for what it's worth). So, if anyone needs any secretarial work, editing, or proof-reading to be done, please do get in touch with me. Rates are highly negotiable and will be consumer friendly. With the lockdown, it's been tough and I've got my to take care of. Enough said!
My humble and sincere apologies, in advance, to our site moderators and admins, if this post is out of sync and inappropriate. Please feel free to inform me and delete.
I have no need for such, but I wish you luck.
Your profile says that you take an interest in science; have you approached any scientists (or science students) about editing research papers?
I was lucky, once upon a time, to have friends in various science programs. Every single one of them, while bright about the science they were doing, was simply terrible with grammar, punctuation, spelling, and word choice. I occasionally proofread their papers (for free and for the joy of it - I am not a professional proofreader. You probably see the errors even in this short message.)
I learned so much from those papers! Some of it was real cutting-edge research, too!
If you have any formal education in science (even a college chemistry course,) that is helpful - but not required. You are not doing peer review, after all! But some familiarity with the terms used will make proofreading easier.
Before COVID, I would have suggested going in person to your local college's science department and chatting up a few students. Now, though, perhaps there is something comparable online?
Offer noted. I am a bit wary of adds sometimes on here, but you have been around a bit now and seem like a genuine member, so good luck finding the work. Pity you, and the site, were not here four years ago, when I was having a lot of editing done, I landed up with someone who took eighteen months for five hundred pages.
