After a discussion here about Narcissists, this popped up, so thought I would share it.

For me it has mostly been the fact that I could not live with someone long term over loving them. After almost forty years I can say that I still love my girlfriend of the time, I however could not have kept living with her. It would have destroyed me. There is more to it than this but that does not mean it is still not true.
Aside from the tangential meanderings of this article, a narcissist has a missing brain part. Either missing or damaged. It's the part that lets a person think about and care about another person. The narcissist can't really be concerned with the welfare of others. A narcissist often learns to "pretend" to care about others, chiefly so he will be accepted socially by other people. But the bottom line is he thinks about himself as top priority. And is simply incapable of anything different.
As someone who has spend her life being a magnet for that type of personality disorder, this coincides with everything I have read about covert narcissism.
