Shades of love of money and evil, as applied to the Catholic church.

The vatican involved in some shady deals? No shit, Sherlock!

Interesting. I’m not Catholic so don’t really understand their stance on acquiring wealth. A good investment is a good investment and there are much worse things to invest in than property.

Property is a good investment, but the Vatican bank has been involved in some remarkably shady deals. Even here, note the variety of sources from where the funds came.

@Petter yes I understand that, there was that chap that got knocked off some time ago wasn’t there. But if this is suspected money laundering it needs to be investigated and proven.
Otherwise, like he says, it just sounds like a value judgement that those high in the church should live more like monks.

@girlwithsmiles I presume you are referring to the P2 (propaganda due) Masonic lodge and the Banco Ambrosiana scandal of the eighties, where a body was found hanging under a bridge. The current Pope does live most frugally.

@Petter Banco yes, I didn’t know about the lodge. The current pope does seem like an especially nice chap, but an honest investment has no shame, unless it’s hiding a dodgy trail.

@girlwithsmiles A bit of history for you:-

@Petter sounds like their idea of democracy is similar to some other leaders we know 😉 I didn’t know that all those things were related. Thank you.

@girlwithsmiles My pleasure. I remember the headlines well.
