A grown up man crying on a national TV was ridiculous. He is not ready for prime time. Get someone who is mentally stable.

Are you being facetious?

@Apunzelle

No, I am serious.

This man is an anchor, not on an afternoon TV opera. They are highly paid but not for crying. It is not cute. His job is to do analysis while being collected, composed and calm. He can cry all he wants in the backroom on anyone's shoulders as much and as long as he wants.

I do not to watch analysis and news to watch stupid emotions and tantrums. A man can cry but not on a national TV.

How would you like Biden to cry in his national adfress like yesterday's on natiinal TV? It must be really overwhelmingly emotional for him to win because he has been trying to be president for three decades and this was a very hard fought fight.

Please tell me, could Biden cry in his speech yesterday?

@St-Sinner I found his display genuine and moving — especially because he was speaking as a father and a person of color who’s experienced much trauma in this country, especially under the leadership of Trump.

So I could see what you’re saying if he were simply reporting news. But he wasn’t. He was speaking as a man, as a father, as a member of an opppressed group. I loved his response. ❤️

@Apunzelle
You did and I did not.

Biden winning emotiinally ovewhelming? Biden was not exciting enough for even for half of the Democrats. If knows anything about Wahington politics, he should know that Biden will not change a thing about police behavior in indivudual states.... nothing. A black prssident for 8 years did not do anything about it. Nothing. Zilch!

He is not hired to speak as a private man. He is not hired to speak as a father. He is hired as a politicially experienced individual to reflect on political events. Not make activist statements. Media must be independent. There is a time and place to cry, This is not the place or time. I could appreciate his emotional honesty if he spoke in private with friends or somebody did that with me. He is unfit to be a commentator on a national TV.

If we adore stupid things, why are we criticizing White supremacists, religious Trump supporters talk and do shit on TV? Millions like it too.

This is exactly what the problem is on both sides. Pick wrong heroes and celebrate wrong things. That is why we run after a mediocre Hollywood actor and teachers are miserable in this country. This is exactly why Kim Kardashian is a billionnare.

@St-Sinner But CNN, Fox, MSNBC ... they’re all wanna-be news channels. They’re all news reported with opinion. That’s why I don’t watch any of them. I don’t think the news should be reported this way ... that makes it not news. But since this is how “news” is reported these days, I accept this man’s show of emotions for what it was. It’s like this on all slanted news shows.

I don’t think he was crying because Biden won any more than I’m jacked up Biden won. He was moved and I’m excited because that orange turd, that disgusting excuse of a man LOST. That’s emotional for a lot of us.

Are we Americans morons for allowing the news to become so slanted and falling right into the trap? Absolutely. Is it bad for our society? Yes! Do I think politicians in general suck? You betcha. We do have some common ground here.

On the other hand, I don’t think appreciating this man’s honesty equates at all with accepting white supremacists. That’s a rather large stretch.

@Apunzelle

All other points are ok.

About equating... Both things are stupid and inappropraite. That's why they are in one category. I cannot condone stupidity on our side while spewing hatred on the other side. A wrong is a wrong. I don't have levels of wrong. It is a stretch for you, not for me. Both are stupid.

@St-Sinner One thing we can agree on: Orange Crush(ed)!

@Apunzelle

No doubt defeated but I would not call it crushed.

  1. Democrats did not have a landslide
  2. Democrats did not have a blue wall
  3. Democrats lost 6 House seats
  4. Democrats did not win the Senate
  5. All this does not offer Biden much political capital

This was all predicted again and again, over and over. So easy... easy..

We cannnot underestimate this:

  1. Mitch McConnell is a self declared Darth Vader of progressive agenda
  2. This means that Biden would not be able to accomplish much except executive orders, health care is out of the question
  3. Trump is heavily predicted to run again in 2024 and win
  4. Conservatives are going on the offensive in the midterms and win the house

I have been appealing on Agnostic over and over to be pragmatic.... not pessimistic, not overly optimistic. Keep feet on the ground. See where we are, and stop at once celebrating lousy heroes like old, hunchback, socialist, heart attack patient, foam-on-the-mouth-while-talking, uneletable Bernie Sanders.

1

That sums up perfectly what this election was really about, despite the numbers of asshats who just didn't get it!

2

Real men cry and show emotion for the truth. That man Van got character!

Van Jones is the Man. Well Said Van

I'm NOT sorry for the people who lost. Putting their unsubstantiated beliefs and ideology above reality and common decency is one of the worst kind of ignorance: willful ignorance

Like religion, racism is one of the worst forms of ignorance, it is based on BELIEFS stemming from hate and exaggeration and is rooted in fear and insecurity.

Religion/racism....all a form of tribalism, which is so problematic for us as a species. On one hand..it keeps us safe because we have a group around us, teaching wisdom and keeping us on the ''right'' path.
On the other hand...one we're threatened by anything...here it comes...tribalism leading to nastiness, violence, you name it!

@LucyLoohoo Not so much keeping people safe as it is keeping people delusional, then mix tribalism in with unsubstantiated belief, arrogance, and self-righteousness and you have religion.

"Religion is not a matter of God, church, holy cause, etc. These are but accessories. The source of religious preoccupation is in the self, or rather the rejection of the self. Dedication in the obverse side of self-rejection. Man alone is a religious animal because, as Montaigne points out, it is a malady confined to man, and not seen in any other creature, to hate and despise ourselves." Eric Hoffer (author of The True Believer)

@nogod4me Yes..and...if we take ''tribalism'' all the way back to the beginning of human society...we see it really was a protective device. If we study primates we see that having ''social culture'' is really just a definition of tribalism. If I'm born into a tribe...someone will teach me how ''we'' do stuff, how we engage with one another, with other tribes...what makes us special. Religion's just one aspect of that. A HUGE one...granted. It makes us soooo special!

@LucyLoohoo Yes, and it even protects them from death and scary things in the afterlife. And the first thing believers will do is push it on their kids.

@nogod4me Here's my theory. A bunch of our ancestors are huddled in a cave while a raging storm is scaring the hell out of them. An old man decides to calm them with stories about angels and a big strong sky being who will make it all turn out by morning. And it does. And they begin to listen to him more often. And he realizes he now has power. He doesn't have to hunt anymore...they bring him food. Guess where this is going?

@LucyLoohoo Yes, of course, and now his followers think that they are safe while living in a servile and oppressive environment with an idiot who sits around the cave scratching his balls and thinking up dangerous doctrines in order to subjugate them and choose which of them needs to be sacrificed to the gods he invents.

@nogod4me You got it! Which makes me remember an article in the LA Times today (yes, I read an honest-to-goodness newspaper.) Anyway--a couple of Catholic priests performed an EXORCISM to remove ''bad emotions" after the campaign/voting. Nothing quite like superstition to calm the kiddies!

Oh, fine! I'd just managed to stop crying and now.....I want to hug this man!
