POWER

Chris and I were childhood friends who hustled gravy ‘bout the city.
Summertime was fast ‘n fun, but the streets were hot ‘n gritty.
We met a man who worked a lark that made him ample milk and honey,
Which he used to hire a shoddy staff to mushroom making .

Rich, the man, would entertain his guests with bulldogs fighting,
Once a worker, Ben, had begged him for a loan, for Rich a trifling.
He suggested beggar Ben could earn the cancer medication
For his sister, letting Rich assault him, to feel exhilaration.

Selfish men are leaders of our industry and nations.
They will sell a friend to slavery, to enhance accommodations.
As their empathy is low, they’re only practiced politicians;
Craft they brandish like a saber, to pursue their varied missions.

Politicians embrace personalities, iron moguls,
Golden eagles, profiteers, and neglect the wee ignoble
People who get shoddy boots and feel objectively their essence.
They are people whose needs are small but who deserve some legal prudence.

To be continued.
