To celebrate Black Friday, as I have for over a decade, I will buy nothing. No gifts, no super-sale-get-it-now nonsense, not even a cup of coffee.
Anyone else?
Quit doing the gift exchange years ago, but I'm not passing up a sale for something I feel I need. This year I don't feel I need anything, though.
Bet my wife does.
I draw a distinction between buying and shopping. If I needed, say, groceries, I'd go ahead and get some, or order takeout, whatever. But shop? No.
Today, First time in my entire life, bought something"black friday" online...picking up Monday. My Xmas present to me, a 55" LG 4k OLED TV. Spending a lot more time with the TV since Covid! Saved $300 over list price, never left the couch!
We got an unexpected 1/4 inch or so of snow last night (1st for us this year) so we're taking the hint and continuing our Thanksgiving virus sheltering for at least 1 more day.
No shopping for us today -- not even online.
I hope you folks feel privileged. I'm risking electronic COVID by interacting with you here.
Ha, ha.
Not me either, girlfriend texted me at 6am. She was in JC Penny's. I said she was crazy, she replied "there are no people in the store" !!!
I have a Keurig machine, it's 10 years old. I can make coffee. I haven't worked since March. I'm living off squirreled away cash. I haven't bought takeout food or anything but food, bills, utilities and doctor appointments since. I won't even send Christmas cards this year, I'll text people.
