I was just starting my teens starting into the 70s and perhaps I was quite naive, but the answer given seems quite correct to me and many things do seem overly conservative to me now, including the conspicuous regrowth of racism... can anyone substantially disagree with that perspective?
Answer to What is something that people commonly did in the 1970s that would seem odd today? by Cal Stowe [quora.com]
This is some nostalgic bullshit of someone pining for "the good old days". I bet no one misses the gas crisis of the 70's or the Cold War. I bet anyone who is gay or in an interracial marriage doesn't miss the 70's. I bet any woman wanting a job doesn't miss the 70's. I'd be surprised if any black people miss the 70's. Many social issues that exist today also existed in the 70's but simply hadn't been brought to light yet.
I call bullshit on pretty much that entire list.
As everything else, this is subjective depending on where one lived, etc. I doubt anyone in NYC at that point in time ever left their doors unlocked. Some of this was true for me and some definitely wasn't. I never like these things...generalizations rarely apply to everyone. Repeating them only shows how much they're one sided.
