Invariably it a curious thing. My state MANDATED statewide mask wearing early in thd pandrmic. When I go into town (ca. 22,000 people + visitors off Hwy I-40) I never see anybody NOT wearing a mask. Likewise, when I travel the largest city in the state (population: 600,000) its the same, everybody is wearing masks.

But, when I travel to the two tourist towns in the state, masks are widely absent. Unfortunately. It's not the locals that are refusing to mask-up, its the tourists. And again unfortunately the majority of those are from Texas, Oklahoma, & the Bible Belt states

I am in Texas and I am not offended.

I lived in Texas for awhile. Its usually the affluent Texans and Oklahoman that are so rude and insufferable. The terms "ugly Americans", I am sure, was coined for these people. They are generally despised by the local population. Legends in their own minds and white privilege practioners all. IMO

@t1nick did you misspell "effluent"?

@FrayedBear

People who have "Affuenza".

@St-Sinner Effluent emits from sewers.
