Youtube is supporting practices that are Anti-American, contrary to the very fundamental rights endowed to us by our constitution! I just read ALL content that Qs election results will be removed. They DO NOT SUPPORT FREE SPEECH! They do not value American liberty, democrary and the free exchange of ideas! They are no longer an ideological ally to the American way.

When the left said "Not My President!" Did people seek to shut them up? THAT SHOULD NEVER BE. You are entitled to your opinion! That is how it works. Now Youtube says, "You are NOT entitled to your opinion." What about facts that disprove that opinion? Are facts not allowable either? Does Youtube control the facts?

YouTube has the right to do as it chooses. It is a private company. The government isn't censoring it. This said, Q Anon is nothing but CRAP, and ridiculous conspiracy theories, that are harmful to our nation.

1

A lot of our 'free speech' rights are being sorely tested these days from many media groups. Speaking freely even with lies and divisive rhetoric has now reached a toxic level. This level could upend the very nature of democracy itself. It is said free speech does not give one the right to yell fire in a crowded theater. Like rights in general it is not absolute. Hate and divisive speech needs to be regulated and I applaud those private media groups that do this on their own.

2

Free speech to speak harmless rubbish is one thing, but it does not extend to malicious and harmful lies. Conspiracy theories and fake news cannot be allowed to stand when the intent is to confuse and spread unrest and uncertainty. It is the duty of any responsible news or social media outlet to verify any third party content it hosts and to remove it if it proves to be misleading or untrue. In this case I applaud YT, and hope all other news outlets take their lead and act as responsibly. We are all entitled to air opinions, even stupid ones, but when opinions are peddled wrongly as facts in order to deliberately confuse and deceive, that is where they cross the line and must be treated as what they actually are...lies.

Which state do you live in? Did your state have NO questions regarding election issues? My state did and it is quite clear there was unequal voting access in the state and unequal advertising of absentee voting in the state so to hear our state SC justice Hadgegorn rule everything was fairly, clearly set out and determined beforehand just does not seem accurate. IT IS NOT ACCURATE. Indefinately confined status has not been clearly defined as it relates to covid beforehand so again his ruling is NOT ACCURATE. Should it NOT have been clearly defined beforehand, or was covid a surprise to election officials?

The closest definition that can be determined is this, "During the current public health crisis, many voters of a certain age or in at-risk populations may meet that standard of indefinitely confined until the crisis abates." So this would mean elderly and high risk, but where was this clearly stated? If you look on any local election website you are never told this directly and in clear, exact terms. If an otherwise healthy 26 yr old claimed the status is it fraud, yes or no? What about 35? 45? If a person works are they confined?

@Flowerwall Test it in court....if the court rules or has ruled that the election was fair, then to post information saying it wasn’t fair falls into misinformation or mere opinion, not fact. The fact is that the election has been ruled as legal. It doesn’t matter which state anyone lives in, we are talking about a general principle not a specific.

@Marionville Okay, which part of the country do you live in then? If you are not a US voter, please say so. Your input is important, but it must be taken as an outsider's opinion. Unless you have spent hours watching the testimony given at various state and federal committee hearings? Have you? Exactly how much time have you yourself spent reviewing different facts related to the concerns?

With regard to the concern I brought above, you seem to think inconsistent rules are not problematic. If a healthy 26 yr old can claim indefinately confined, then we should have ALL been given the option. There is no reason to not have this all clearly spelked out beforehand. I believe this issue is being reviewed by court currently, but social media has already placed the label "conspiracy theory".

@Flowerwall I’m not a US citizen...I’m not specifically talking about any particular case in your US state, or indeed of any other, but on the general principle of the veracity of what is posted as fact on social media sites such as YT. I thought I had made that clear.

A search on “Truth in advertising” found the following:

When the Federal Trade Commission finds a case of fraud perpetrated on consumers, the agency files actions in federal district court for immediate and permanent orders to stop scams; prevent fraudsters from perpetrating scams in the future; freeze their assets; and get compensation for victims. When consumers see or hear an advertisement, whether it’s on the Internet, radio or television, or anywhere else, federal law says that ad must be truthful, not misleading, and, when appropriate, backed by scientific evidence. The FTC enforces these truth-in-advertising laws, and it applies the same standards no matter where an ad appears – in newspapers and magazines, online, in the mail, or on billboards or buses.

That is advertising. Youtube gets to avoid the advertising responsibilty because the content itself is not advertising. But there should have to be some standards somewhere. What do other countries do? What about Germany? Other nations that are not highly censored?

Well I found this on wikipedia regarding internet censoring in Germany "criticized the idea of putting decisions about online discourse in the hands of American companies, with the latter calling it "a slap in the face of all democratic principles".[21] In what has been called the "first test case" of NetzDG, a German Internet user sued Facebook for deleting a post that was critical of Germany. In April 2018, the court obtained an injunction ordering that the comment be restored." Not quite what I was looking for, but still informative.

The only thing I watch on YT are music videos and Graham Norton.

Just about spot on!

You should try government hearings on election fraud. You will be better informed.

@Marionville Ditto to you the reply "You should try government hearings on election fraud. You will be better informed."

@Flowerwall l am plenty informed. YT is my escape from being informed. Govt hearings are a lot of political posturing with very little information. Thank you though.

@Sticks48 Oh really? I'm just listening to govt hearing and Dr. is saying "Invermectin for covid" What posture is that? The low cost truth? I'll take it! But you can continue to doubt and call it conspiracy theory, if you choose.

@Flowerwall I never have and never will believe in conspiracy theories. You get your news wherever you like I will get mine where I like. I haven't been fooled yet. I grew up in radio, television, and worked at two newspapers before going into music full time. My father was heavily into politics. My brother and I were on the campaign trail as early as elementary school. Don't try to lecture me. Toby don't play that game. Got it?

@Sticks48 Okay, so what do you think about Invermectin? Why is media not all over this? 100% success rate in Argentina. Why is it not being tested in masse?

@Flowerwall From what I have read it is effective against parasites and is not recommended for SARS viruses. To be effective against this virus it takes a dose 100 times more than the recommended dosage for humans, and it has not been tested enough in trial yet. I listen to Fauci. When every expert in the world agree he is the man, I listen.

Look for information on Invermectin. Listen to what multiple Dr.s say. Fauci is ONE man. Are the other Drs/studies lies?

@Flowerwall He is THE man, not A man. You can also find a few scientists who don't believe in global warming, but who cares. You are the one who sounds like you are into conspiracies. As soon as you go there I'm out.

They are a private company so they set the rules.

You are entitled to your own opinions, but you are not entitled to your own invented facts. The First Amendment freedom of speech has responsibilities that come with. Purposeful misleading or misinformed are not guaranteed with that freedom. Q is a public nuisance and a danger to the operation of the government and society. It is not, and should not be protected under the responsibility requiremrnts.

So you think Q, questions, are a public nuisance? Noone is supposed to ask questions? Or are you referring to the conspiracy theory? Who tells us what is a conspiracy theory and what is not? It's prevailing beliefs. The beliefs held by majority. If something comes out, you don't get to immediately label it "conspiracy", it gets that label with the passage of time and with facts.

It is a FACT that my state did not equally advertise absentee voting. So when you call voting irregularities "conspiracy theory" I think you are not telling me or anyone else the truth!

@Flowerwall

Sorry, anybody who buys into Q is not a reliable and discerning judge of information.

@t1nick Okay, so you have attempted to place a label on me that does not apply "QAnoner" and then did not respond to the FACT I just posted about voting that was clearly problematic. Your opinion is so ONE SIDED, it is clearly only motivated by politics. Irregardless of political benefit to one side or the other, there are certain core ideas that require bipartisan agreement on. You have just shown you are not capable of seeing anything from a different perspective, so when you talk about "conspiracy theory" you must be in your own mental trap.

They were hacking the voting machines the other day. It just happened. Or was that a conspiracy theory too?

@t1nick I think you missed a “not” out of your text in the original response.

@Marionville

Probably, I commonly do that and do not know why. Also I enter on my phone and sometimes miss edits. Thanks

I agree that speech should be free.
Instead of just complaining, tell your ilk to try do something about it and host your conspiracy videos on the many alternatives, or better yet, your own website.
That way you will have full control of spreading misinformation and propaganda.
In the spirit of the American constitution; Who are you, to tell YouTube what to do?

Mvtt Level 7 Dec 31, 2020

Well Youtube should have to label itself as being censored to skew audiences to the left. Otherwise I am being falsely mislead when I view its content to believe it is inclusive and in line with American values of freedom of expression. If we accepted youtube's censorship without warning and it came out years down the road there had indeed been mass voter fraud, then youtube should have some liabilty for participation in such a huge deception. Or is no large corporation ever held accountable for its actions?

@Flowerwall realise that you are a victim of trumps propaganda. Please learn about types of propaganda so you won’t be so easily manipulated.

@Mvtt I am realizing this went too far, "They are no longer an ideological ally to the American way." In my original post above. The fact is youtube IS an ally to the American way. It is there, on youtube, that all of the news, govt testimony, and expert opinions can be shared and observed. I strongly disagree with their stance at current with regard to election. My perspective of everything expressed in first paragraph above comes from a sense of anger. I do not feel the majority are seeing the bigger picture of what is going on in this country. I feel this govt is not doing its job. It is not helping its citizens in the ways it should. This year, well now last year, makes me believe that more. And youtube has a role now in all of this. In a sense they are playing the part of determining what is fact. That power of theirs should be supporting truth and progress.

@Flowerwall I think it might help to go through this short explainer, if you can find 20mins.
To become a good “reader” of propaganda, helps us think critically about agendas people like trump have.
He’s created a bad situation in the USA and is making it worse with disinformation and baseless denials of certified election results due to his ego being hurt.
It would really help to learn how we are easily manipulated into believing strange things (think, cults).
Please take some time to look into propaganda techniques and devices.
All the best.

No social media platform has ANY obligation to allow content they have a problem with. No business does.
The First Amendment only guarantees that the government cannot retaliate against anyone who speaks against it.
Free-speech comes with consequences.

As far as q goes, they're a bunch of conspiracy peddling whackadoos.
They don't have a shred of evidence to support any of their crazy claims.
There was no widespread election fraud.
Insisting there was is nothing but lies.
It's not about freedom of speech being suppressed. It's about truth over lies.

Btw, it wasn't just the left who said, "Not my president."
I also recall lots of republicans and conservatives AND racists who said, "Not my president, " about Obama.

Exactly!

Well whoever wants to say "Not my President" can say whatever they want. Trump and Obama were both presidents. Biden may be next. The point is there is not an appropriate time to stifle discussion relating to accusations of fraud. It's been discussed at govt hearings. Witnesses presented. There needs to be rebuttal, explanation. Point by point. Just the co occurance of voting during a once-in-a-hundred-year pandemic and the alterations to regular voting rules because of it, and the occurance after we saw such huge levels of volatility play out in riot after riot across the nation, we have just undergone major national traumas and any respectable public official would be sensitive to the need to address the national concerns. NOT SHUT PPL UP. Now is not the time for that. A REAL LEADER has a duty to address concerns in a factual and direct manner. Likewise youtube, and all these social media agents have a duty to not act like they own the truth.

@Flowerwall None of the fraud accusations have ANY evidence to back them up.
The Secretaries of State, of every state, and DC, have certified their elections.
Some, after multiple recounts.

Biden has no obligation to give these accusations credence.
Especially since it was 45 himself who started these accusations even before the 2016 election. He never shut up about it.

Your argument is specious.
This was a fair and free election.
Insinuating otherwise is nonsensical.

They don't have to, they're a private concern.

Slavery was privately owned too.

@Flowerwall You are conflating two completely unrelated issues.

@Flowerwall What KKGator said. A senseless remark.

@jeshuey What upsets him about slavery is that it was outlawed.

@barjoe Now you are misrepresenting HUGELY.

@KKGator The point is private ownership doesn't mean it should violate others' rights. If you start moderating content based on politics you should have to clearly state that you are doing so. What if all major social media was censoring left ideas, but not disclosing it. It would create a huge problem. Irregardless of viewpoint, censoring only one side is problematic. If a Dem says "There has been election fraud" I want to hear everything, every piece of evidence that points to it. I don't want to employ selective hearing on that subject. EVER.

@Flowerwall No more misrepresentative than your metaphor. Comparing quarantine and mask requirements to slavery is ridiculous. I admit I shouldn't accuse you of being pro slavery. Sorry.

@Flowerwall Trump lost and he lost badly for a incumbent. He can't get over it. He's going to scream about thing for the rest of his life. If that's not very long, it wouldn't bother me a bit.

@barjoe I personally could care less about his personal ego. It's the witness' testimony at hearings, and legal arguements that are concerning.

@Flowerwall Let's not talk about "hearings" at local Ramada Inns or landscaping yards by adult books stores. They've been in front of Trump appointed judges who laughed them out of court. Those are the legal arguments you're talking about? The US Supreme Court refused to hear their case, three Trump appointed justices and two flat out lunatics in Sam Alito and Clarence "the harasser" Thomas who drinks cokes with pubic hair on it.

@Flowerwall YouTube isn't violating anyone's rights. It's not even about politics.
It's about what is the truth versus demonstrable lies.
Besides, I've noticed, especially lately, that those who are screaming the loudest about their rights being suppressed are largely the same ones who have had NO problem suppressing the rights of others.
They can dish it out, but they can't take it.

There was no widespread voter fraud.
The Dominion machines did not change any votes.
Every single case of alleged voter fraud has been rejected for NO evidence.

45 lost. Fair and square.

They are a privately owned platform. When people use YouTube, they are getting free storage. They sign a terms of use agreement which YouTube has the right to make users abide by. They have a right to take down anything they view as unsuitable, whether it be racist content, conspiracy theories that they (and they alone) deem as harmful. Pornographic material, the"N" words, pedophilia. Users have a right to appeal, sometimes they even win. That's the rules. You don't like it? Store videos on your own drive. Section 230. Trump's biggest peeve. He wants to be able to publish lies without fact checks. Fuck him (he would censor that). I hope he has a very Unhappy New Year.

You may be misrepresenting somewhat.

@Flowerwall No I stand by ^^^^
