Does anyone on this site own a fully electric car (Tesla, Chevy Bolt, BMW I3, Nissan Leaf...)? If so what has your experience been like?

Not personally, but my friend has a 2014 Leaf which now has over 100k on it. Uses it for his 55 mile per day commute. No battery degradation showing as yet and he swears by it. He doesn't hang about either and has given a run up the dragstrip and was going to race it this year (Sportsman ET) but EV and hybrids have been outlawed this year in the UK.

It seems to the only people who say they will be unrelieable and have battery problems are people who don't own them.

One of the big reasons that lithium ion phone batteries fail is due to them being fully discharged frequently. Unlike nicads. lithium batteries perform better of they are not fully discharged and kept topped up.

I have a 2013 Leaf I bought for 10k with 30000 miles on it. My commute is very short and my area in hydroelectric powered so it makes sense for me. I love the thing. Fairly sporty to drive, maneuverable, has some pep to 40 mph. Battery degradation and range anxiety were early concerns but I haven’t had trouble with either to this point. It also does really well in snow in ECO mode I found. Been meaning to make a short video about my time with the vehicle but keeps getting put off. The biggest issue is how much the battery goes down using the heater but in a couple weeks that won’t be an issue for awhile.

I have an electric scooter....

Those lights are awesome, man. What kind of batteries does it use?

OK, I was going tp post the same question, so will watch the replies. I want an electric car and this week my beast is costing me money.

I think the biggest issue with fully electric cars is battery degradation. As the battery degrades you lose range. Also, I think electric car owners drive very conservatively to preserve battery life. I have never seen anyone on a Tesla out their foot into it.

I have around Boulder but they're probably not worried about range between Boulder and Denver. Damn things are quick. But yes batteries are expensive to replace once they go down. Lithion ion batteries in phones seem to degrade after a couple of years.

I think another issue which I think will be solved is the charge time. Once it's down to minutes instead of hours the game will change significantly.

Can't comment directly as I have an RX Hybrid, but do know several Tesla owners who all love their cars. The only problem for them - everytime they have the car "updated" or "maintained" - they get a latest model loaner, so there is a temptation to go for the latest & greatest.

But that is true of most tech nuts....always want the leading (or) bleeding edge.

They primarily use them for city/urban driving rather than any sort of long distance driving. Planning around fueling points takes a bit of getting used to as charging stations aren't as ubiquitous as gas stations.

Mostly Model S owners...one friend did comment that they found the Model X surprisingly small for its size opting for the Model S instead.

That is surprising. You'd think they would be bigger being more like a crossover. The gull wing doors are cool.
