Hellooooooooo!!!! I am new to this site, and I feel that the categories for beliefs didn't quite match up for mine. So I'm gonna explain it. I always thought that Agnostic meant you believe in God, but not in the need for Religion. Which is what I believe.
God is here, I'm sure of that, I don't question that there COULD be a higher power out there. But I have a hard time believing that God, who both made the Multiverse, and simultaneously condemns those that live in it, either cares enough about its creations, or is powerful enough to intervene in it's natural flow of life. Therefore, I do not believe that God is worth worshiping He's more like a Deatbeat-Dad than a legitimate Father. Either he doesn't even have a phone to call us, or he doesn't even care enough to call us with it.
I do, however, believe in the one thing God gave us all: which is the strength and fortitude to get things done ourselves. I don't pray to God, I don't go to Church, or anything, because we don't need it. God made us, but he isn't necessary to live, and isn't needed to be happy. And we SURELY don't need his "grace" to be a good human being.
I do believe in a heaven. And I believe that we could all go. people of any belief, Religion, Sex, Race, anything. As long as we are as good as we can be, as long as we don't go out of our way to make this world worse than it is, then I believe we all have a seat in heaven.
And if God has the AUDACITY to limit access to a happy afterlife because of what people simply believe; If I'm wrong, and he wants to send me to Hell for it, then you can BELIEVE I'm gonna have some words before I go.

Serious question. Is that a watermelon on your head and is it seedless?

I have two serious answers: Yes, it's a watermelon.
and Yes, because I ate all the melon out of it. No seeds left. That counts as seedless, right?

Agnostic: "I dunno."

Atheist: "I dunno, either, but I'm 99.9999...9% sure. Because? Evidence."

The difference? Not much really. The agnostic is an atheist with a lower degree of certainty, that's all.

Welcome to the group. I suggest you read everyone's comments on what agnostic means. They've explained it wonderfully, so I won't go into it.

You have given your understanding of an agnostic, which is wrong. Others in correcting you have given you their version (varying degrees of right). So it might be useful to give a proper explanation. Agnostic is derived from the Latin and means 'i don't know'. I call it the 'hedging your bets' arguement ( their may be a god, i don't know, so i won't openly worship him but i'll keep in with him just in case this heaven malarky is real). Atheist is the more courageous stance. There is no god, deal with it! Hope this helps 🙂

lol, i looked more into it, so i'm not sure WHAT I AM then, lol. agnostic, maybe not. Probably not, lol. My main reason for believing in God is because I believe in an afterlife. I believe in an afterlife because I find it hard to believe that people, who have a consciousness, can simply "stop being". all our memories, all our ideas, our very perception on life, snuffed out. Could we even perceive eternal darkness if we could no longer perceive anything at all? I find it hard to imagine. I also believe that people should be held accountable for how they live in their life. Not by general standards, but more like, since I believe in an afterlife, I don't think Hitler should be allowed there. Something like that. everything else about my personal beliefs are as I wrote above.

I know it's tough, to think when we go, we go. We deserve so much better 🙂 Yet we readily accept there is no doggie, no wolf, no horse, no racoon heaven. But we, as the head of the animal kingdom, deserve immortality. Yeah sure. Let go the religious/egotisical nonsense n just accept your own mortality. It's not that bad. ????

Welcome! I would suggest you check your conclusions against provable fact and then enlighten us all with your findings. Start by googling "agnostic," a term which usually applies to those that believe that the nature of god is unknowable including whether or not such a deity exists or of anything beyond material phenomenon including the existence of an afterlife, heaven or hell. Being sure that god exists makes you a deist as does knowing there is a heaven. I am dying to hear just one shred of evidence based on provable fact that either god or heaven exists. What makes you so sure?

There is no god, no afterlife. Live with it. Dogs have self awareness but does anyone really believe they go to heaven. You are no different than a dog or an amoeba. The definition of death is quite final. Our inability to accept it is inconsequential to the universe. We do have eternal life in one respect, though. The molecules into which we decompose may or may not be absorbed by some other mortal life form down the line.
