It takes a village to educate a politician. The question today asks if society is relevant today. With the rise of virulent Federalism and Libertarian leanings on the right, they posr a challrnge to the concept of the need for society. Is their motivation simply a desire to have less centralized government? Or is their motivation much more base, as I fear.

Most Libertarians (along the ilk of trump) are mostly selfish brats that just do not desire to be accountable for their behavior and actions.

In order for a country the size and diversity of the US to operate successfully. Some overarching organization must exist. Therr is a dimenishing point of returns with 50 separate sovereign states acting strictly in their own interests at the expense of the whole.

If it wasn't for the larger governmental structure, and things were left up to individual states, Jim Crow would still be the practice throughout the South. If not for the larger overarching government structure, the Chatanooga River would still be burning with chemical waste, multiple Deep Shore Horizons would occur yearly, Love Canal would still be killing people, and the water downstream of P,G,&E would be undrinkable.

Society is the natural state for our species. One of the reasons that we evolved can be attributed to the development of complex societies. By banding together, cooperating, and establishing norms that preserved the well-being of that society, we wete able to beat off our predators and together acquired sustenance.
