Recently learned that the Trump family fortune began in my home province of British Columbia. "Friedrich (Trump), born in Kallstadt, a small village in Western Germany, left for the United States when he turned 18 in 1885 in order to avoid mandatory military service. He eventually made the bulk of his money through ownership of restaurants and brothels in British Columbia" There's a joke in there somewhere...

his grand pa was asked to leave the USA but his home country would not let him back in because of his criminal activities ...from what I read he went to Alaska and ran a brothel and that is how they got a start making money but none of the paid inc tax

Thanks for that snippet. So Donald is merely following in grandpa's footsteps, avoiding military service, associating with prostitutes and 'hospitality'. Shame he didn't carry on the 'flu tradition.

No, that’s Fred Trump (the real estate tycoon) and father of Donald, who was born in NYC in 1905. Friedrich was Fred’s father, and he died of the Spanish Flu in 1917 at the age of 50. (This quote is from Mary Trump’s book-Too Much and Never Enough)
