@Lorajay I used to treat myself to nice things. I only buy necessities, food, medicine, utilities, insurance and gasoline. Don't have much left after that. I'm debt free. I have more than people who are in debt.

@AnneWimsey I'm not working right now. I can't justify indulging myself. I did buy a 10lb strip loin the other day, it's in my freezer. Haven't had restaurant food in over a year, except for National Cheesesteak Day, I treated myself. I've been living off my savings.

@barjoe i have been so poor if it wasn't for Virginia having bottle-return money in the late 60's, the baby would not have eaten. It got worse as first hubby's drinking did. I hear ya!
