Are murder hornets still a thing or are their 15 mins just up?

I heard some bees have evolved/invented a defense, when one enters a hive intent on murder hundreds of defenders cover it closely & cause it to smother/overheat & die. Then they push the corpse out.

Right, that's the defense the native Japanese honeybees have developed over thousands of years of living with them but the American honeybees have no such defense which is why they get killed by the tens of thousands at a time.

@Sgt_Spanky you do not think interbreeding a defense-system bee with "regular"ones would work? By importing some queens,for example?

@AnneWimsey I'd have to be an entymologist to answer that but I do know that whenever Man tries to mold nature according to his preferences the results are frequently disastrous in ways no one expected.

@Sgt_Spanky so then we should leave those Murder Hornets strictly alone? You cannot have it both ways.....

They are still a thing. West Coast is worse.
