So here is a quandary, I took THIS from MY response off of another group in response to WHAT WE ALL WANT... OR? There is ONLY one downside to SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE within our current cronyistic distorted system of "government", which I can apparently visualize...com// When or IF the (YUK), highly organized church structure whom ALREADY have their finger up and in too many pies-- am not mincing words here-- lose their "tax-free status", they CAN feasibly GAIN more political POWER in the world of fast and loose 'citizen united' politics...com// HOW? --> SO, then the CHURCH is forced to PAY TAXES-- as it should be... However-- this can then be reformulated to be an: "AH HA" NO TAX WITHOUT REPRESENTATION??!!!!! https:// Y I K E S... MAYBE not so very cut and dry, what? Let the pious have at it, then in return in FULL FORCE. https:// Simply think about it... Things can backfire-- big time. https:// I am not one who tends to TRUST any longer in ANY lack of the ability to MANIPULATE "our" system and I SURE DO NOT TRUST the current CABAL. https:// PERHAPS, now, and simply perhaps- period, this is an issue to be looked at in a deeper way in terms of our present Constitutional Laws, first! https:// MAYBE, kind of freaky-scary to wrap one's mind around? But, so has a great deal of what has happened in say, the LAST 50 yrs!!! Nothing is without repercussions, NO?

Our country went to war on the 'taxation withut representation' issue. The churches pay no taxes but they still do have representation and no one seems to understand the unfairness of that. FFRF went to court and won (but now it is in appeal) to have the clergy housing allowance taken away so that those with multi-million dollar housing have to pay taxes. One way the churches can get this representation is that they have the money to lobby. Given the increasing number of expensive lawsuits ( [ffrf.org] ) and other expenses churches would be hard pressed to increase thier lobbying should they lose their 501 ☕ (3) status! What we need is a strict enforcement of the 'Johnson' amendment and to excommunicate the churches from their tax exempt status should they cross the line and sin against the state!!!

Yup it's what worries me if they do start paying taxes then they would want more of a say which is a massive no no
