Question for the men: Did you recently get a message from a 23 year old female member in California expressing an interest in you because you had such an interesting profile and her photos were just a little bit awkard in their photoshoping? I just did! How do you deal with such a request to 'know more about you?' I told her I'll pass and I challenged her inquiry and her photos.

I got several of those in the relatively short time I was on online dating sites a short while back. I even engaged in somewhat protracted dialogues a couple years back with a couple of them who contacted me through FB. I'm not as stupid as I look, and I, of course know that if they're that young and that cute, the bottom line is going to be $$. One even told me she was so broke, she couldn't buy sanitary napkins, and asked if I could "help her out" by sending money. Nah, not doing that.

I never had one make it far enough to get to the money thing. What I think they do is one 'operator' talks to you one day and then another 'operator' replies and they end up using a different voice and speak pattern, etc. Real easy to pick up on. I used to enjoy seeing how far they'd carry the conversation. Ya know, tying up their time over in Ghana or Nigeria. Time is money!! I wonder if they actually thought they were hooking a rube???

I used to toy with 'em first and then expose them. That was fun for a while.

@DUCHESSA These were from scammers who claimed to be nursing students from South America. They were in nursing 'school' in Ghana! Yeah, right! And they were taking care of their sick families, etc. They were definitely scammers. One of them claimed to be currently in Nashville. She wore a T-shirt with a nude picture of her on it. That's how the scammer got around the nudity rules! I mean, seriously. They're so easy to identify. Anyway, I just say no thanks now.
You are good. I could have used your detective work when I was on Match.com and encountered three fake profiles.

Yup. We're blowing the whistle on this scammer! Match was horrible, wasn't it? A bunch of spoiled and stuck up women....

I think I know the user you mean - something about the photo and profile looked dodgy to me straight away. If any of you did get a message from that account, be careful and wary of possible scams.

Look at the left shoulder and hair and how it appears to be superimpossed onto the background. Then look at the feet. They're nicely grounded but without a shadow.
