Today is the Find where the Mennonite Store has moved to Day. Our country has two (!) Mennonite groceries and fabric stores. I visit both of them regularly, for their good selection of flour and spices and bacon. And soup! Their homemade soups are delicious. We have their soup schedule hanging on the fridge, like others may have the menu of their local Chinese place.
The second Mennonite store is farther away. Many years ago, they started as a fabric and pattern store to supply the local Amish and Mennonite women with fabrics for their clothes. They soon added groceries and BACON. They sold the most delicious bacon anywhere around. When our Food Coop project fizzled out, we found ourselves shopping at Spring Lake. enjoying the long drive through the farmland through Eastern Wayne County.
Who knew, their buildings were leased? I thought the Mennonite owned everything and paid cash for their purchases? Another fairy tale exposed.
So today, I have to try and find their new location, deeper in the Eastern part of the county. I have the name of the road and I have a working GPS. It should be no problem. This time, I am going after yoghurt and fruit and slab bacon.
