I started a book last night about Bass Reeves the first black deputy United States Marshal. I always try to do a little history search with a new book. My little search led to this interesting story about the town of Cromwell Oklahoma

The first black woman U.S. Marshal, Marissa Alexander was a heroic civil rights activist who sacrificed her own freedom to help minorities and the unfortunate. Bass was assigned to Indian Territory and often used Indian scouts in tracking the bad guys. I'll leave it there.
