Vaccine passports.
I like to be able to see silver linings in most things, and vaccine passports will have advantages, assuming kids under 12 are not vaccinated
No more annoying kids on planes eg no overseas holidays
No more annoying kids at restaurants.
No more annoying kids at sporting events
No more annoying kids at any major public functions
Will kinda suck if you're a kid or raising a young family but as long as we are "safe", it's all worth it.
This is what some wish for. But don't worry, I'm sure those in power don't want to be seen to discriminate against kids so they will be exempted.
All about safety of course, follow the science (cough cough)

Honolulu County (Oahu) will be implementing a vaccine passport type thing for restaurants, bars, gyms, and other places where people are frequently sharing breath with others unmasked, beginning September 13th.

Those businesses will be requiring their patrons and employees to show proof of vaccination (or a negative test result from within the past 48 hours) for anyone inside the business for more than 15 minutes. (So takeouts and deliveries are exempt from having to show proof.)

Visitors and residents who are unvaccinated are urged to utilize the businesses in ways that they do not interact with vaccinated folks, so get take out instead of dining in, etc.

Children under 12, since they do not qualify for the vaccine yet, are exempt... So families can dine (etc.) if all in the party are vaccinated who are over 12. Screaming toddlers and babies can still accompany them.

In my opinion, I would still not bring unvaccinated kids into crowded areas anyway, so hopefully parents will use their best judgment.

The new rule will only be in effect for 2 months and then it will be re-visited. For the unvaccinated, they can stay out of the restaurants and other super spreader events for those 2 months and perhaps we can bring our numbers down so that we can again begin welcoming tourists.

My island (Kauai) does not have such a mandate (yet anyway) but we will see if it's effective on Oahu first before possibly initiating something like that on our islands.

Many of our cluster cases have stemmed from restaurants frequented by anti-vaxxers. So, they'd better up their safety protocols until then, if they want to keep their businesses open to their unvaccinated clients without requiring testing.

im just waiting for the day when all the annoying antivaxxers have died off, or wised up, and we don't have to hear them anymore. may take a while but its coming.

@powder thats a good enough reason. ive grown not so particular about it. you better hope they hurry. im done with your crap. bye.

@powder No vaccine is 100%. Nature simply doesn't work that way. But a partially effective vaccine is way way better than crossing your fingers and hoping you don't catch a disease... then spread that disease to others who in turn spread it to even more people.

But heck... what have vaccines ever done for anybody.... aside from eradicating polio, rubella, measles, mumps, chickenpox, diptheria, smallpox, tetanus and other diseases. Maybe if the anti-vaxxers get their way they can find a way to get all of these diseases back.

@Charles1971 In the UK we have two simple stats. Nearly 90% are vaccinated, yet just the reverse 90% of those in intensive care are unvaccinated. Yes in 10% of those cases vax failed, because there are no absolutes, but odds of nine times nine to one, are very very good. Not science, not oppinion, just simple maths.
