"Time & karma"

I was talking to a friend tonight about them being bullied when they were younger.

They shared some of their experiences with me they had as a child about a few people they grew up with & how these people bullied them in school.

So, as my friend came into adulthood, these people reached out on social media with friend requests. So they accepted. Found closure & started anew with them knowing they were all grown up and had most likely matured.

So, things were well between them for many, many, many months, until they started seeing their old friends were still bullies, only a grown up version now.

The heartache that poured out from them felt so tangable. I could easily relate. It was hard to know the right thing to say to give comfort to someone who went through being traumatized by bullies as a kid.

The only thing I could say to help give them a different perspective for what they went through, is,  no matter who you are, what you do, how much money you have, how many friends you have, whatever your social status is, whatever you own, however successful you are, whatever title you have, how much education you have. None of that matters. None of it. Because time & karma have this unique way of always coming together to weave the most perfect of all poetic tapestries of justice that brings the most stubborn, arrogant & egotistical people to their knees & sometimes it makes them into better people & sometimes it doesn't. I personally have seen it first hand several times with people I knew throughout my life which went each direction. Some became better people and others stagnated.

After I said that. My friend started to explain, how all of them now had health problems. One had MS, we're obese, had failed marriages. Their looks were now a mere fragment of their former self from way back when & though they had money from successes in life, they were bitter, had children that past away, on & on, and yet, they still had not been humbled.

So, my question is. Have any of you known anyone in life, who have been humbled over time that are now a far cry from their former self for the better?
