If prayer worked, would we even still need to do it? Shouldn't all the icky stuff have been prayed away by now?😂😂😂😂

Yes, atheists would have been prayed away.

And all of the following would have been prayed away:

  • homosexuals
  • transgender people
  • Muslim, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and Pastafarians
  • Democrats
  • people of colour
  • brains

Yes, you would think so, if prayer worked in the way most people think.

I'm not crazy about the word prayer, so I like to think of prayer more as a casual meditation. It can give a person time to stop and consider how we got to the situation we're in and what we can do to rectify it or make it better. Sometimes just recognizing the situation and giving it attention makes us feel better, but doesn't make the bad situation go away.

Likewise a prayer of thanks or meditation of gratitude doesn't really do anything either, but gives us a moment to appreciate. It's all just thought -- and can sometimes help us find an answer.

Thought without action doesn't really solve anything but makes some people feel better and recognize their place in time and mental wellness. I spend a lot of my alone time thinking about situations in my life or others and what I could do to make things better, or just recognize that things are pretty good, and I'm happy.
