I think it is the senior citizens who left in the movie "Cocoon". They left the Earth and we did not hear from them ever since.

I loved that movie. It was so inspiring, we went with neighbors to the movie and afterwards to the grocery store and my husband was dancing with me and playing pitch with cantaloupes in the produce aisle afterwards.
