Colin Powell dies of Covid at 84
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell in Alexandria, Virginia on September 7, 2012. As the first Black US secretary of state, he helped shape American foreign policy in several Republican administrations.
Until the end, Powell did not apologize for lying to American people about Iraq war and working as a hand of Bush and Cheney war profiteering machine. Julian Bond criticized the Bush administration for using its two black cabinet members, Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice, as “human shields”. He especially called Collin Powell as a throw-back to the slavery days when white plantation masters used back slaves as 'slave supervisors'.

Let's be honest. Despite the hero worshipping going on in the media since his death, the truth is, his reputation never recovered after people looked back to his fraudulent presentation at the UN assuring everyone that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and there was no doubt that war was necessary. He was used. He allowed himself to be used. The unprovoked war on Iraq which resulted in the deaths of huge numbers of people and destabilising of the region is a war crime by the US and those countries that supported it, like mine (the government, not the people. Opinion polls showed opposition to it). He was used by the Republican party, and he knew it. The mainstream media can ignore it now, but history will not.

The guy had no humility to say... I am sorry I lied. He tried to show he was correcting his mistake by endorsing Obama and Biden but people have not forgotten what he got us into. I am sure respect for him dropped internationally too. This is why parents teach children not to lie. I'll admire a guy who admits his mistake and apologizes than the one who keeps avoiding it and worse yet, covering it. Powell did both. I don't understand why we keep glorifying wrong heroes while the real heroes in the society are eating dust. .. like the underpaid teachers for example.
We continue to do hero worshiping of garbage like of drug addicts Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan, and Kobe Bryant (dog fighting training), Pete Rose (baseball betting), richness-spoiled Paris Hilton, Bush-Cheney, Clinton and now Trump and Powell.
We have a problem as much as they do.
He had multiple myeloma too, so his immune system was severely compromised.

Sadly he lived to 84. If he had died in Vietnam he could have possibly been revered.
He didn't.

He perpetuated George W.'s and Dick Cheyney's big lie. A sad downfall to an otherwise honorable life.
