There is currently a 7 metre (23 ft) diameter sculpture hanging in the nave of Durham cathedral. It is based on thousands of NASA satellite photos and was made to a scale of 1 centimetre equals 5 kilometres. (1:5,000)
Here's a couple of photos I took of it.
(The cathedral was built some 900 to 1,000 years ago. The first photo shows the massive size of this impressive Norman structure.)

It is "on tour" and needs large, tall spaces to be exhibited. It moves to a new venue in mid-November, after 2 months in Durham cathedral.
@MsKathleen I don't know.
I do know there are copies in Sydney, Australia, and Barcelona, Spain. It has also been exhibited in Calcutta.
He has recently produced a new "sculpture" featuring earth.

It is supported by some thin, black coated, steel cables and is internally lit. I do not know what material was sculpted.
It was created by Luke Jerram.
I wonder what the mediaeval church would have done to anyone creating such a sculpture, to contradict the "holy book"?
