There is nothing wrong with teaching/learning about religions as knowledge.

I think if religion is going to be taught then the following conditions should be met: 1. the teacher is certified to teach in the topic of religion. I can't teach subjects I am unqualified to teach. 2. Focus should be placed upon non dominant religions. eg. Christianity can’t take center stage if it’s the dominant religion. 3. It must not be promoted. 4. Skepticism and questions should be welcomed. Anyone involved should be able to point out flaws weaknesses etc

Sure, religion belongs in school. It belongs in history classes due to its significant influence on history (wars, inquisitions, oppression, bigotry). It belongs in literature classes along with other mythology such as that of the Greeks and Egyptians. Heck, you could even discuss religion in a philosophy class.

But religion sure as shit does NOT belong in any science class ever.

True perhaps, because you have the separation of church and state. But I grew up in England where the Church of England especially, but others also, was integrated into the schools, and where the churches are strong with you, Christianity is almost extinct here, we are nearly a whole secular country. Nothing kills the churches quite so well as making them an arm of the state.
