Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.As much as I would like to take a cheap shot, I cannot. It would be disruptive for Trump to attend. Sitting presidents have not traditionally attended services for former first ladies of opposing parties.

The last sitting president to attend the funeral of a former first lady was JFK for Eleanor Roosevelt in 1962. So it has been over 50 years since any president has attended a former First Lady's funeral. Trump isn't the first (and won't be the last) not to attend.
As much as I disagree w/ Trump's policies and behaviours. This isn't one I am going to fret over.
As stated by others, it is the tradition now to send the First Lady to attend the funeral of a former First Lady.

Yes, I think it's classless. But classy isn't exactly a word I'd use to describe him anyway, so I can't say I'm shocked.

And I think the presence of Melania Trump was more than enough...Barbara Bush was not the FL anymore.

@Dawgismygawd I lost a lot of respect for Mrs. Bush when she said the folks from New Orleans would be better off in Houston because their homes were old and in bad shape (paraphrasing). Many of those homes were in the families for generations and were all they had. No one wants to have to leave their home.
