Gee never heard that before (a lot). Funny you should mention it. This became my sort of, unasked for, theme song. When living in Europe I was a member of the Heidelberg Int'l ski club, the largest, multi-cultural ski club in Europe. It just so happened my upstairs neighbor and closest friend was a real jokester and was the president of the club. One evening, at a gathering, he got up and said they had a celebrity among them (this was the time when Wolfman Jack was very popular on the radio). He wanted me to come up and howl for the crowd (I felt like crawling somewhere out of sight). From then on whenever this song was played I would get the 'howl' comment. My nickname became 'Wolfy.' This site brings back so many, often embarrassing, memories.
That's a great story! It's fun to hear the details connected with the acquisition of nicknames. Ah-hooo indeed! My nickname is Lemon, because in middle school some boy told me I had lemon-colored hair. My best friend overheard that, and started teasing me about it. The name stuck. Her nickname, incidentally, was Pickle. 50 years later, we're still Lemon and Pickle.
@Organist1 I think we all have nicknames and it’s fun to how they were acquired. The neighbor/friend was a big guy. 6’4 and 195 lbs. his nickname became “Fatso.”
@JackPedigo That’s like calling a.basketball player type "Tiny"!
@Organist1 Funny how that works.
