I discovered this quote in preparing my post for Pessimism. It is something all have to grapple with and it is especially difficult for the weak-kneed religionists. “Humanism has to recognize an inescapable undertone of tragedy in the world. … All that we are, all that we love, all those things, people, and values to which and to whom we are attached by love, perish. Nothing of an individual nature seems permanent. Nothing is certain. Humanism can offer no consolation.” British sociologist Ronald Fletcher 1968
I agree but if religion can offer consolation, humanism can too. Or both cannot. What can religion offer beyond illusion and lies?
Chuck Schumer ought to call a press conference to announce it!
While he's at it explain Armageddon is a hoax, and the Antichrist a boogeyman.
