So my company had their annual awards thing tonight. It was virtual again. I was skipping out when my boss texted our department in a group text asking if we were logged on. It was just friendly but I thought maybe there was news for us and joined. It reminded me of those days in high school when class let out early for a pep rally. Everyone showing their "school spirit" as I just sit there and think how silly they all seem and how out of place I am. I could never go in for all the group think. But the owner, CEO and my boss are there so you have to play the game. And then I remember. Everyone sells out. You have to to a certain extent, especially if you have a family to support. It all makes me feel dirty inside, but I just nod and smile back.
