Atheists don’t have morals”
My morals are the only thing stopping me from becoming a pastor and exploiting your gullibility for profit.
Yes, but one has to be able to live with oneself. That is why I am poor.
During one of my periods of unemployment the job centre sent me for psychometric testing to determine what career path would suit me best.
The result came back informing me that I was 100% suited to being a clergyman.
I pointed out that was stupid since I was an atheist, to which by career coach replied, "What has that got to do with it?"
I must admit I have thought about raising money to do a religious revival touring show in the US, I'm convinced with my background in theater production I could put on a good show, but like you my conscience gets in the way.
@altschmerz To be fair at around the same time we did in this country have an arch Bishop of York "David Jenkins" who made the news every other week because of his pronouncements that he was neither a Biblical literalist, nor a believer in Heaven and Hell, or even that he did not believe the resurrection happened. Bishop Jenkins claimed most of the "magic tricks" performed by Christ were added in later to make the bible stories more entertaining. BY the time of his retirement, he had stopped short of declaring himself an atheist, but only just.
He did however retain his position in the church and in the House of Lords, this in spite of the people of Tewkesbury blaming a catastrophic flood on his appointment and a fire at York Minster being the wrath of God because of his heresy.
Ah yes, the morality of the Catholic church. Tuam. Mother Therese of Calcutta. Pope Pius XII. Ferdinand and Isabella. Pedophile priests.
