Okay.
Last Flag Flying.
One of the best films I have seen in years.
It lacerates - war kills people.
It doesn't shy away from that.
In fact, that's exactly what it's about.
The three leads - Bryan Cranston, Steve Carell and Laurence Fishburne - are each perfectly cast.
Cranston takes the drunken lead, and for a lot of the film he carried it. His character appeals to me - he has damage, but deflects.
But, as always, I had eyes on Steve Carell in a straight role. Ever since Little Miss Sunshine, I believed he could do this kind of role.
He delivers. He is so shut down with his grief and anger. And Carell doesn't mess with that.
I walked out of the cinema deeply affected by this film.
