So, are you ready for Christmas? I say Christmas because it is a Christian festival. This festival has been hijacked by the world and has become "Happy Holidays" and nothing to do with the original foundation.

I'm guessing that most people on here will be partaking in this ritual, either with family or a loved one?

So are you comfortable with this? Or are you going to partake on the premise that "I'm doing it for the family"?

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. By the way, I'm NOT bah humbug.

It's a paid holiday, the kids have time off from school and this year it's a 4 day weekend. It's a good time to get together catch up on the news, laugh a little or a lot and eat some good food. Exchange a few gifts with added oooh's and aaah's then go home. What's not to love? 👍

I don't go to church and certainly not to mass. Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays makes no difference to me. 🙂

As most here stated, Christians hijacked a pagan holiday and made it their own to make it easier for pagans to convert. If the holiday really was about celebrating the birth of Christ it would be in the spring.

As for celebrating; I have a young grandson so I celebrate it for him. I also say "Happy Holidays" and not Christmas because I have Jewish and Muslim friends who do not celebrate Christmas.

Christians hijacked Saturna and other pagan holidays and forced Christmas on the world. Christmas has nothing to do with the original foundation.

Most of the trappings of Xmas are based in paganism in the northern area. Lights on trees because the north gets very dark; the timing is because it is 3 days after the solstice, and the wise ones (meaning the ones who paid attention to such things - who usually were the ones looked up to by the colony) were able to see that the dark would not keep going; and feasting because with the days returning, they figured the food would return, so they would eat most of the stores before they went bad. Etc. I don't have family - and with my current business, this is my work time. But I do partake in some of the goodies (I'm one of the weird ones who likes fruitcake)

I am not Christian - therefor, I do not celebrate Christmas. I also live alone, with family not nearby - so there's nothing I need do "for the family". I'm quite comfortable with that.
Everyone has their own celebrations and traditions - or none at all ! Whatever works for ya.

I don't feel Christmas has been hijacked at all. Fact is, there are other holidays observed around the same time of year, by other religions. So, to wish someone "Happy Holidays", is merely including everyone in the sentiment. It does not in any way prevent those that celebrate Christmas , from doin' their own thing, and saying "Merry Christmas" .
If that's your particular thing - go for it - enjoy !

And at that - I like Season's Greetings - because it is one of the seasons...
