Just a little bit of a difference to look at. You have to admit, he does have a point.

I think Shapiro over-simplifies the problem. Poverty among blacks in the U.S. is almost 20% while among whites its only about 8%. Poverty has a significant influence on crime. Also, the income of a community dictates the quality of the schools so a school in a poor community will be significantly different than one in a upper-middle class community.

Living in a more affluent community means better education for ones kids, better security/safety, less crime, better access to community resources, etc.

Not sure how Shapiro can say that there's no evidence of racism.

And as for systemic racism? Aside from access to education as I mentioned there are plenty of other examples. Black job applicants with white-sounding names receive 50% more callbacks for job applications. There's racism in healthcare as well. Black women are at least 3 times more likely to die during pregnancy than white women. And racism in our judicial system is fairly plain to see when a black person and a white person commit the exact same crime but are given radically different punishments.

How many innocent unarmed black people have been shot dead by police in the U.S. just in the past few years? Shot dead in their car or while walking down the street or while in their own homes.

Agreed. I grew up on the edge of the Navajo reservation and saw a lot of the same problems.

Just as examples... Two kids I knew were literally world class athletes but they had very little chance. One was black and he got driven out of ASU socially as a sophomore and ended up taking his fathers' old job as a high school coach on the reservation. Actually not bad given his circumstances but we would all know his name if he got the encouragement he deserved.
The other was Navajo and should have gone to the NFL. He was the 5th rated shot putter in the country and ran a legitimate 4.5 40 yd dash when he graduated high school. The place he couldn't fit in was NAU. He dropped out and drowned a few years later falling into a golf course water hazard walking home from his job flipping burgers at a McDonald's.

Two kids both with outrageously immense potential but when they got into our society the implicit prejudice defeated (one fortunately only mostly) them.
Certain classes of our people have their lives very much limited by their circumstances regardless of their abilities.
